Hello! My name is Lana Alencar. I have completed my graduate studies at Providence University and Seminary with a Masters in Counselling. I am currently registered with the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Canada.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, as I believe that all of us have the power to change and make decisions that can impact our lives positively. I believe that each client has the inner ability to overcome difficulties and hardship. Throughout my life I have had many different experiences working with couples, families, and teenagers. During my time as a therapist I have worked with individuals of diverse backgrounds with varying issues including: self-worth, trauma, sexuality, spirituality, addictions, depression, anxiety, boundary setting, relational stress, and immigration and cultural issues.
My therapeutical practice incorporates a diverse set of theories including cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused, narrative, and emotion focused therapy.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also like travelling, learning more about other cultures, and reading.
We all matter, we all belong
Sometimes we feel like we don't belong and as if we don't matter. In moments like this, it is wise to stop, reflect, connect to our true selves and then move on.
